Summary
In Mary’s declaration that “holy is His name” in Luke 1:49-50, Panagopoulos hears a confession that the child she bears is the divine-human Christ, not a merely human son. The kenosis described in Philippians 2:5-7 manifests divine humility: the Son relinquishes none of His Godhead but assumes complete human nature, revealing both natures through suffering and miracle. The Holy Spirit sanctifies the Virgin, enabling her to receive the mystery of the Incarnation without corruption. As her whole life magnified God’s name, Christians glorify it by sound faith, righteous conduct, humility, and works of love concealed from praise. Divine mercy reaches every generation but does not violate freedom; Lot, Noah, Job, and Saint Anthony exemplify the receptive and faithful heart.
